Compassionate leave

Academic and general/professional staff

Academic and general/professional staff are entitled to a period of up to three days paid compassionate leave for each occasion to spend time with a member of their immediate family or household who contracts or develops a personal illness or sustains a personal injury that poses a serious threat to his or her life; or after the death of a member of the employee's immediate family or household.

An employee may add an additional two days paid leave, providing up to a total of five days compassionate leave, by using additional leave.

TAFE teachers

TAFE teachers are entitled to up to three days paid compassionate leave on each occasion of illness or death of either a member of the employee's immediate family or household.

Additional leave may be granted in circumstances where the University considers the leave inadequate.
