Awards

Federation University has a strong commitment to creating a culture of excellence by promoting and advancing quality learning and teaching through the recognition and reward of individuals and teams who go above and beyond standard practice.  Learning and teaching awards form an integral part of the academic and professional recognition, reward and promotion pathway.

Institute/Department level

With recent restructures across the university, the development of a strategic process to identify, support and acknowledge L&T excellence has in places been adhoc. Leadership teams have begun exploring the establishment of a framework and pathway to support local recognition through to national recognition as a career progression pathway.

Organisational level

Vice Chancellor Awards for Learning and Teaching (VCALT)

These INTERNAL organisational awards recognise and reward individual staff members and teams - both academic and professional | ongoing and sessional - who make innovative and outstanding contributions to student learning outcomes and the quality of the student experience over a sustained period of time. Institute/Centre/Department leadership teams work to identify and approach key academic and professional staff within their area to engage with these awards.

National level

Australian Awards for University Teaching (AAUT)

These EXTERNAL awards recognise and reward individual staff members and teams who have received a VCALT (or equivalent) and wish to extend their innovative and outstanding contributions to student learning outcomes at a NATIONAL level. These awards are available to both academic and professional staff – ongoing and sessional.

Regional Universities Network (RUN) Awards

Fed Staff took part in developing a three minute video focusing on one of the key topic areas: Innovation in learning and teaching, Regional education or Indigenous engagement.
