The Student Retention and Success Strategic Plan mandates the completion of the Graduate Certificate in Education (Tertiary Education) (GCETE) for all new academic staff at levels A, B and C with teaching responsibilities who do not currently meet the set exemptions (see Priority 5.1). Award programs are those that are delivered at a registered training organisation that align with the Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) and meet TEQSA requirements. Non award programs, while not directly attached to an AQF qualification, still meet the needs of staff seeking further professional development. Staff are also encouraged to source their own professional development opportunities and are not limited to in-house services.
While the Centre for Teaching Innovation and Quality (CTIQ) offer an array of professional development opportunities, including training and workshops (below), the Human Resources department also provide professional development opportunities. These PD opportunities are facilitated both internally and externally, in varying modes of delivery and at Mt Helen, Berwick, Gippsland, Brisbane, Horsham and Melbourne.
