Biodiversity Across the Borders conference
Over 600 delegates attended the eighth Biodiversity Across the Borders Conference held on Friday 14 June at the Mt Helen campus.
With the theme, Climate Change and Future Landscapes, the conference was jointly hosted by Federation University , La Trobe University, Deakin University, Victoria University, Charles Sturt University, University of Melbourne, Parks Victoria and other research partners.
Professor Leslie Hughes (Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research Integrity and Development) and Distinguished Professor of Biology at Macquarie University) delivered the keynote address alongside an exciting and eminent group of speakers including Professor Kathryn Williams, School of Ecosystem and Forest Sciences, University of Melbourne; Professor Max Finlayson, Institute for Land, Water & Society, Charles Sturt University; and Professor Brendan Wintle, Director, National Environment Science Program Threatened Species Recovery Hub (NESP TSR).
The conference aimed to communicate new ecological research to natural resource managers, the research community and those with an interest in better environmental management, with the focus of restoration and management of ecosystems in a changing climate; threatened species - solutions under climate and landscape change; managing water ways under climate change; and connecting people and nature - values, ethics, communication, practice.
