Commonwealth Supported Place - Student contribution
Your CSP fees are subsidised by the Australian Government. The remaining amount shown on your invoice is your student contribution.
It is a condition of your enrolment into a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) that you pay your fees, or if eligible, successfully apply for a HECS-HELP loan by the semester census date.
If you do not pay your Student Contribution Amount by the due date and you:
- are eligible for HECS-HELP;
- have completed a 'Request for Commonwealth Support and HECS-HELP' form, and
- have provided the University with your Tax File Number (TFN)
any outstanding Student Contribution Amount will be deferred to your HECS-HELP loan and reported to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). Once your Student contribution has been deferred upfront payment cannot be accepted by the University and payment must be made to the ATO.
There are serious consequences if you do not pay your student contribution amount by the due date or, if eligible, apply for a HECS-HELP loan and provide your TFN.
If you don't make upfront payment or successfully apply for a HECS-HELP loan by the census date the University is required under the Higher Education Support Act 2003 to cancel your CSP enrolment for the semester. There is no academic or financial penalty for the cancelled semester.
There is no extension to the due date for your student contribution. This is a legislative requirement which applies to all CSP students with no exceptions.
Full Fee-paying Place - Tuition fees
If you do not pay your tuition fees in full by the invoice due date (semester census date), and you
- are eligible for FEE-HELP, and
- have completed a 'Request for FEE-HELP assistance' form, and
- have provided the University with your Tax File Number (TFN)
any outstanding tuition fee after census date will be deferred to your FEE-HELP loan and reported to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). Once your tuition fees have been deferred upfront payment cannot be accepted by FedUni. Any future payments for deferred amounts must be made to the ATO.
However, there are serious consequences if you do not pay your tuition fees by the due date (semester census date) and you;
- have not completed a 'Request for FEE-HELP assistance' form, and
- have not provided your Tax File Number to the University, or
- are not eligible for FEE-HELP
The consequences may include cancellation of enrolment for students who have not paid their tuition fees by the census date or applied for FEE-HELP. The University will issue you with a warning before cancelling your enrolment.
