If you’re living with a disability, long-term injury or chronic illness, you can access free personalised employment coaching through GradWISE.
Experts will help you assess your strengths, make a career path plan and build your employability skills. You’ll get the opportunity to do work experience and further training, improve your resume and practise your interview technique. And the support doesn’t stop when you get a job – GradWISE staff can assist with workplace training and modifications.
Eligibility
To apply for the GradWISE program, you must be:
- a domestic Federation University or TAFE student (or alumni)
- in the second-last or last year of your studies (or have graduated within the last two years)
- living with a disability, injury and/or illness
- not be in full-time employment.
What to expect in the first six months
You’ll be introduced to the GradWISE program and your dedicated career coach.
Your career coach will help you create an employment plan and refine your resume. This will give you a clear idea of your current situation, goals and pathway options.
You’ll get to attend monthly sessions about industry experts, the graduate application process, interview techniques and more.
You’ll be able to access a safe space where you can share your experiences and resources with other participants.
Graduates who have completed the GradWISE program and are now employed will offer you encouragement and give you tips.
You’ll receive coaching that focuses on optimising the brain and body systems to build resilience and prevent burn-out.
Mentors in your field will give you industry insights and help you understand how to navigate the workplace.
You’ll get the chance to do work placement in a supported environment to build your skills and confidence.
You’ll be introduced to a network of employers to gain an understanding of how different industries function.
Your career coach will guide you through the process of applying for jobs.
