What is co-op?

Co-operative learning or co-op is a well-established international model that connects students to the workplace as a core part of their degree through co-operative relationships with industry.

The Federation University Co-operative Model is different to traditional work placements at other universities because we actively bridge campus-based learning with workplace learning so that when you graduate you already have work experience as well as the skills to succeed.

Our co-op courses embed employer and industry engagement from start to finish, so you can succeed no matter where you are in your study journey.

Every Federation Co-op degree will:

  • develop transferable skills as well as technical skills to prepare you for your career.
  • include at least 60 days' paid placement relevant to the course, contributing to your course credits – either full time over one semester, part time over an extended period or in blocks embedded into your subjects.
  • connect you with employers and build your work experience and resume so you can go straight from uni into your new career.
