What did you enjoy about studying your program and what were the best aspects of the program?

I found the engineering program structured in a way that allowed freedom to learn at your own pace. There was support there when needed, but it wasn't too obtrusive for those who didn't. The course had a good amount of practical assignments which helps with learning.

Where are you working now and what job do you have? What does your job involve?

I am a Director at 4Site Engineers which I started with a colleague in 2013. Day to day I manage the design and coordination of food and beverage processing buildings, including architectural, structural and civil engineering, building services engineering, building surveyors, fire engineers etc. This role is a mixture of office-based work including managing junior engineers, phone calls and checking drawings, as well as site-based work - meetings with clients, builders, other sub-consultants, building surveyors etc to try and foresee what problems may arise, and solve them prior to them causing delays in construction.

What is your favourite memory or the one thing you reminisce about the most from your time at university, and why?

When I was at university, I ran the Engineers Society for a number of years. It was a very rewarding experience and a lot of fun. This lead to a large network of like-minded people, a lot of whom I am still in contact with today.

If you had to describe your time at university and how it has benefited you, what would you say?

University was a great way to meet people and it taught me how to learn. The most important thing an engineer needs is to know what they don't know, and where to look to find it out.
