Andrew Cyples won the Young Achievers Award at the 2016 RACV Victorian Tourism Awards. Since 2008, Andrew has cemented himself in the Victorian tourism industry, promoting attractions, accommodation and iconic retail destinations to domestic and international tourism markets.
Andrew commenced his career in Tourism whilst studying at Federation University (formally University of Ballarat) where he studied a Bachelor in Management majoring in Marketing, Tourism and Human Resource Management. Andrew attributes his start in tourism to his time at the University and to his lecturer and mentor Dr Mary Hollick.
In Andrew's current role as Assistant Promotions Manager, Tourism at Queen Victoria Market, he has been instrumental in the development and delivery of the annual Tourism Strategy. Queen Victoria Market is now Victoria's number 1 international tourist destination, attracting over 10 million visitors per annum. Queen Victoria Market is currently undergoing a $250 million renewal program, the largest in the City of Melbourne's history.
Andrew has also previously worked in a Sales & Marketing role at Mount Baw Baw Alpine Resort, Melbourne’s closest downhill alpine resort and in a Project Management role at AAA Tourism, where he developed an accommodation awards program to recognise excellence within the Australian STAR Rating Scheme.
Andrew is an active participant in the tourism sector holding voluntary positions on a number of committees including the Young Australian Tourism Export Council, Melbourne Attractions Group and Young Tourism Network. He continues to evolve his expertise in Tourism having graduated from the Melbourne Tourism Industry Leadership Program and Visit Victoria's International Mentoring Program.
