Transforming lives through record scholarships at Federation University

Posted: Friday 16 December 2022

Federation University Australia’s scholarship opportunities for 2023 are shaping up to be the University’s largest ever, with a record number again on offer.

More than 200 scholarships are available to students, giving them the opportunity to succeed in their studies without the stress of financial pressure.

The scholarships help to cover costs including textbooks, petrol, groceries and computers, while some include industry mentorship and paid work placement to give students a head start on a successful career.

In 2023, Federation will partner with generous donors to offer 218 scholarships with a total value of over $700,000.

Among them are Gippsland Water scholarships offered to Indigenous students studying environmental science, chemistry, engineering, business or IT, and female engineering or science students.

A new ‘Future of Allied Health Professionals Scholarships’ will be on offer for Bachelor of Occupational Therapy, Bachelor of Physiotherapy and Bachelor of Speech Pathology students, with eligibility for a cadetship at Latrobe Community Health Service in third and fourth years.

In Ballarat, some of the scholarships on offer in 2023 reflect the rapid growth of the wind energy industry, including:

  • GPG Scholarships  (8 for Higher Education and 5 for TAFE). Applicants must be able to demonstrate a commitment to study and willingness to develop a career within the renewable energy industry.
  • Moorabool Wind Farm Scholarships for Certificate I, Certificate II, Certificate III, Certificate IV, Diploma and Higher Education.  For students considering a career in the wind energy industry.  Applicants must reside within the Moorabool district.
  • Tilt Renewables Scholarships - Students who are trade qualified in engineering, electrical or mechanical trade wishing to enter the wind energy generation industry. Need to be enrolled in the Global Wind Organisation Standard course

Federation University’s scholarship program began with four foundation scholarships in 2013 and has grown to support hundreds of students in need of assistance through the generous support of alumni, staff, businesses and community donors.
