Albert Coates Memorial Scholarships

ACMT logoThe Albert Coates Memorial Scholarships are available for students who have successfully completed their first year of an undergraduate nursing, visual arts or biomedical science degree at Federation University and enrolled in the second year.  Three scholarships are available to the value of $3,000 each.

Available for commencing or continuing higher education domestic, undergraduate (including honours) or postgraduate student studying in the field of science at the Gippsland Campus.

Higher education domestic students undertaking the Bachelor of Civil Engineering in the final year of studies at the Federation University Mt Helen Campus and is to the value of $3,000.

Cameron Beyer Scholarship

Higher education domestic, CALD, migrant, refugee, international, undergraduate or postgraduate student undertaking studies at the Mt Helen, or any Ballarat campus.
This scholarship has been established from funds raised by Council members of Federation University in memory of a Council member Cameron Beyer.

Available for domestic students commencing studies in 2025 and living on campus at the Federation University Mt Helen campus.  This scholarship supports students living in regional Victoria.  This scholarship will go towards FedLiving accommodation costs.

Available for TAFE students commencing studies in Certificate III in Engineering Fabrication or Certificate IV in Engineering Drafting at the SMB campus in Ballarat.  This scholarship will provide $1,000 per year of studies.

East Gippsland Water Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Student Scholarship

East Gippsland WaterAvailable for a domestic Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander student undertaking an undergraduate degree in engineering (civil, electrical, mechanical or mining engineering), accounting, science (major in environmental restoration or ecology) or information technology at the Gippsland campus

Preference will be given to students who reside in the East Gippsland region, but is open to other students who will commit to being directly involved with East Gippsland Water.

East Gippsland Water Federation University Student Scholarship

East Gippsland Water logoThis scholarship is open to students who are undertaking studies in Business, Engineering with a focus on civil, chemical, mechanical or mining,  Science with a focus in Ecology or Environmental or Information Technology at the Gippsland Campus.

Preference will be given to students who reside in the East Gippsland region, but is open to other students who will commit to being directly involved with East Gippsland Water.

If studying Engineering, the students will focus on one or more of the following technical areas within the business:

  • Water and Sewer networks engineering
  • Water and Sewer Treatment process engineering Recycled water treatment and operations
  • Drinking Water Quality and Recycled Water Quality Risk Management Dams management and oversight

East Gippsland Water logoAvailable for a domestic or international Higher Degree by Research candidate enrolled at the Federation University Gippsland campus undertaking research within the fields of engineering, science, technology, business, maths or data.

Preference will be given to students who reside in the East Gippsland region, but is open to other students who will commit to being directly involved with East Gippsland Water.

Preference will be given to students who reside in the East Gippsland region, but is open to other students who will commit to being directly involved with East Gippsland Water.

Elite Athlete Scholarship

Higher education domestic, undergraduate (including honours) or postgraduate FedUni campus students. Elite athletes must be recognised as an elite athlete by the AIS, State Institute or Academy of Sport, AFL Players' Association, Rugby Union Players' Association, Rugby League Professionals Association, Australian Professional Footballers' Association or a national squad member from Australian Sports Commission funded sports.

This scholarship will be paid as $7,000 in the first year and then $4,000 per year for up to 4 years of the degree.  If undertaking studies part time, the scholarship will be paid in pro-rata, half per year of the scholarship amount for up to 8 years of the degree.

Emerging Leader Domestic Student Scholarship

Available for TAFE or Higher Education domestic students. The application should include any evidence of current leadership activities within the local community or within Federation University.

Energy Australia Scholarships

Available for students undertaking studies in Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical and Information Engineering) (Honours); Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) (Honours) and Bachelor of Environmental and Conservation Science at the Federation University Gippsland campus.

To be eligible recipients must be undertaking 400-450 hours of IPP through the Industry Placement Program at Energy Australia.

Applicants should provide two written references, one of which must be from the candidate's principal supervisor including information on submission timeline. Applicants who do not include a thesis completion plan signed by the principal supervisor by the due date will be ineligible.

GPG Scholarships (Higher Education)

GPG logoAvailable to students who are undertaking study across Higher Education which have a direct relationship to workforce demands in the renewable energy sector at the Mt Helen or Ballarat campus.  Applicants must be able to demonstrate a commitment to study and willingness to develop a career within the renewable energy industry.  Applicants must be able to demonstrate reasonable previous academic achievement that would enable them to successfully complete the course the scholarship is offered to.

Provide two written references from people (one academic and one employer, if possible).  Provide a written submission of no more than 500 words that demonstrates the personal characteristics and attributes that the applicant considers necessary to succeed within the wind energy industry and examples from their daily life. The academic performance will be assessed as part of the selection process.

GPG Scholarships (TAFE)

Harold Carroll Memorial Scholarship

The Harold Carroll Memorial Scholarship is available to TAFE or Higher education domestic students undertaking an undergraduate degree for a minimum study period of one year and studying at one of the following campuses: SMB, Camp Street, Gillies Street, Mt Rowan, Mt Helen or the Wimmera Campus.  The Harold Carroll Scholarship is valued at $6000 per annum over a period of three years.

John Bush Memorial Fund Scholarship

The John Bush Memorial Fund Scholarship offers $5,000 per year for up to three years of studies to Thai-born students pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate studies at any of the campuses in Victoria who are in financial need.

Kylie Pope Scholarship

Available for TAFE, VCE and Vocational Major Federation University students studying in the field of Early Childhood (including Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care; and Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care) at the Mt Helen or SMB Campus in Ballarat. This scholarship provides an opportunity for recipients to undertake their placement at the Goodstart Early Learning Centre at Mt Helen where Kylie previously worked, with potential for work in the future.

This scholarship is open to an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student undertaking an undergraduate degree at the Gippsland Campus.

Lions Club of Melbourne Chinese logoAvailable for Chinese national students undertaking studies at the SMB Campus or Mt Helen Campus in Ballarat Preference for Chinese descendants from the Ballarat or Bendigo region.

Loy Yang B Women in STEM Scholarship

Available for a female / woman domestic student, able to demonstrate they are experiencing social disadvantage or financial hardship, studying one of the following degree programs at the Gippsland Campus:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical Engineering) (Honours) (preferred)
  • Bachelor of Information Technology (Business Analysis)
  • Bachelor of Information Technology (Cybersecurity)

This scholarship is valued at $1,875 per year, up to a maximum value of $7,500 for a four year degree program.  The recipient may be offered a paid 60 day Co-operative Education Placement in the 3rd or 4th year of their degree program.

Moorabool Wind Farm Scholarships (Higher Education)

Moorabool Wind Farm logoAvailable for students undertaking studies in an undergraduate (including honours) or postgraduate degree at the Mt Helen campus.

Applicants must have a permanent address in, or have relocated for study in the local area of the Moorabool Wind Farm project. Priority will be given to areas within the 10km radius, and any funding that may be available, may be used for areas outside this demarcation line.

Available for a student commencing studies in the Bachelor of Performing Arts Music Theatre and Acting at the Camp Street campus.  Applicants must be financially disadvantaged.

Available for two Chinese National students undertaking studies at the Berwick campus.

Project Eleven Performing Arts Prize

Awarded to a graduating student who has demonstrated exceptional commitment to their course of studies in Performing arts and shows potential for developing and extending their professional practice in the future.  This prize would be presented at the final Showcase Performance to the value of $2,000.

Project Eleven Visual Arts Prize

Awarded to a graduating Bachelor of Visual Arts student who has displayed an exceptional commitment to their studies and shows potential in developing and extending their professional art practice in the future. This prize would be presented at the End of Year Visual Arts Exhibition, to the value of $2,000.

Available to commencing or continuing students undertaking studies at the Mt Helen campus in:

-  Graduate Certificate in Mining Operation Health & Safety
-  Graduate Diploma of Mining 
-  Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) (Honours)
-  Master of Engineering Technology (Mining Engineering)

Preference will be given to students who are also employees or children of employees at the Port Pirie smelter, in so far as possible.

Rotary District 9780 Scholarships

Higher education or TAFE domestic students undertaking an undergraduate degree at Federation University and studying at one of the following campuses: SMB, Camp Street, Gillies Street, Mt Rowan or Mt Helen Campus to the value of $1,000. These scholarships are for students that are disadvantaged or financially struggling.

Ryan Margetts Memorial Scholarship

TAFE domestic student studying at the Federation University Wimmera Campus, to the value of $1,000 each. The application should include any evidence of community involvement within the Wimmera, highlighting current volunteering or leadership activities within local community groups. The purpose of this scholarship is developing local people to work on local community opportunities in the Wimmera district.

Sally Bentley Scholarship

Available for a student commencing studies in the Bachelor of Performing Arts Music Theatre and Acting at the Camp Street campus.  Applicants must be relocating for study.

Scholarship available for the duration of the degree - $7,000 in the first year, $5,000 in the second year and $3,000 in the third year - $15,000 in total. The Future of Allied Health Professionals Scholarships

Available for a Higher Education student undertaking any Institute of Health and Wellbeing degree at any Federation University campus.

Applicants must be a service member or immediate family member. Tilt Renewables GWO Scholarships

Students who are trade qualified in engineering, electrical or mechanical trade wishing to enter the wind energy generation industry, who demonstrate a clear enthusiasm and desire to enter or further their involvement in the industry and are enrolled in the Global Wind Organisation Standard course at Federation University and studying at the SMB campus in Ballarat. Current employees working in the wind generation industry who wish to undertake the training in order to provide them with a pathway toward becoming a wind turbine technician will also be eligible for the scholarships.
