Orientation at Federation University
Feeling nervous? That’s normal. But we know how you can make your transition to uni easier: get amongst it at Orientation.

Why Orientation matters
Starting uni is a big deal. You’re heading in the unknown. But 85% of students who attended last semester said they felt more confident about succeeding in their studies after attending Orientation.
Our campuses are big. But we won't let you get lost. Join an Orientation tour and you’ll get to explore the Library, Student Lounge, café, classrooms, lecture theatres, sports facilities and more.
Orientation is the perfect time to meet other new students. You’ll also get the chance to chat to second and third years, as well as lecturers and support service staff.
Here's what you can expect

Check out highlights from last year’s Orientation at our Mt Helen campus. Each Orientation is unique to its campus, but all are designed to help you feel welcome and ready to start your studies.
Explore Orientation for your study location
Every study location has a unique Orientation designed to help you settle in. If you're a blended or flexible student, you'll attend Orientation on your allocated campus.

Mt Helen is set on 110 hectares of bushland but it’s only 10 kms from the centre of Ballarat. So you can listen to birdsong as you study then paint the town red in your downtime.

Camp St is basically a creative student’s dream. Fine art studios – tick, professional galleries – tick, multiple performance spaces – tick (hello 150-seat theatre). And there's great coffee round the corner.

Berwick is all landscaped grounds and modern architecture, but it’s only 40km from the Melbourne CBD. You can study in tranquility then pop into the city for some karaoke.

Gippsland is set on 60 lush hectares (yes, there’s a lake), and Churchill is right next door. If you're a Bass or Wonthaggi student, you're invited to the Gippsland Orientation.

Our Melbourne City Campus is right in the middle of the CBD. Step outside and you're literally surrounded by shops, cafes, galleries, theatres – and free trams.

You'll learn about your course at Melbourne City Football Academy – ctrl:cyber Campus at Casey Fields then explore academic skills at Berwick Campus

You might be studying at home, but you're still welcome to join Orientation at your closest campus, explore the Orientation Hub and connect with classmates via Moodle.
