Berwick Campus is closed until Friday 20 August (aside from limited practical activity).

Regional Victorian campuses and Brisbane Campus are open but with restrictions in place.

Specific advice on the impact of COVID-19 restrictions for Federation’s operations is below.

Across all campuses, staff and students must wear face masks at all times (aside from teaching, eating or drinking), must scan QR codes on arrival at campus, and maintain 1.5 metres physical distance wherever possible.

Berwick Campus – Melbourne metro area lockdown until Friday 20 August

  • Berwick Campus remains closed until Friday 20 August, pending government advice.
  • Higher education at Berwick remains online until Friday 20 August. However, limited practical activities will continue on campus this week in essential study areas such as clinical health.
  • Students will be contacted directly via email and/or Moodle with specific advice.
  • All staff should work from home, aside from a small group of essential workers on campus who will be contacted by their line manager.
  • Staff and students who live in the Melbourne metropolitan area but work or study at a regional Victorian campus must work or study from home. Some may be classified as carrying out authorised study or work under Victorian Government restrictions and will be contacted individually.

Regional Victorian campuses – restrictions from Monday 9 August

Deans and Directors will start discussions with professional and general staff on who can return, with priority given to staff who cannot effectively perform their job from home or whose work is essential for supporting students on campus. • Staff and students who live in the Melbourne metropolitan area but work or study at a regional Victorian campus must work or study from home, unless they are classified as carrying out authorised study or work, under Victorian Government restrictions. Find the list of authorised workers here.
  • Staff in regional Victoria can find full details of restrictions at COVID Safe Settings in regional Victoria.

Check the following government websites for more information, changes and alerts at www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au or www.covid19.qld.gov.au. We support state and federal government restrictions put in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the community and align university operations to comply with these.

Updates via email, web and social media. Student support and services are still available over the phone and online if you need it. A range of Health and wellbeing resources are available online for staff.

Federation University’s on-campus Health Centres are also open if you have any general health issues. Do not attend the centres if you have any COVID-19 symptoms (cold, flu, cough, fever). You should instead get tested and isolate until you return a negative result and can phone for options to speak to a GP or nurse. Go to the health services page for information and contact details.
