Posted: Friday 15 December 2017

Foundation Scholarships have been presented to two inspiring students at Federation University Australia’s Wimmera Campus.

The scholarships of $1000 each were presented to Tha Blay Sher from Nhill and Muh Muh Maw Kay. Both are refugees from the Karen community.

The Foundation Scholarships have been established by FedUni to enhance students’ chances of succeeding at university.

The Foundation’s aim is to empower and enable students to make a contribution to society once they graduate.

“The Campus is delighted to host this new series of Foundation Scholarships,” Geoff Lord, Head of the Wimmera Campus, said.

“Tha Blay Sher and Muh Muh Maw Kay are both outstanding FedUni students who are achieving great things for themselves and their community.

“The University is very pleased to support them as they continue their education journey with us.”

Representatives from the Dunkeld Refugee and Asylum Seeker Group and the Hamilton and District Rural Australians for Refugees attended the ceremony.

Tha Blay Sher is studying a Bachelor of Social Science and Muh Muh Maw Kay is studying a Diploma of Nursing.
