University hosts higher degree research conference

Posted: Tuesday 18 July 2017

Federation University Australia will hold its annual research conference for higher degree by research students at the Mt Helen Campus on Thursday, 27 July.

With the theme of Making Your Vision a Reality, the conference at the Mt Helen Campus will enable our students to present their research to an audience of their peers and the public.

“I’d like to congratulate all of the higher degree presenters at this conference,” Professor Leigh Sullivan, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), said.

“The presentations on their research projects are an important milestone in their awards. As well as showcasing the broad range of excellent research being undertaken by these candidates, these presentations will allow invaluable feedback on their projects.”

Up to 75 oral and 12 poster presentations will be presented at the conference. About 140 attendees have registered.

Topics at the conference will include the role of T cells in ovarian cancer; perceived injury risk among junior cricketers; bioenergy in Australian agribusiness; teachers’ understanding of students’ aspirations; and the care factor of leadership.

The aims of the conference are to:

  • Give higher degree by research candidates an opportunity to practise and hone their research communication skills, and;
  • Provide a valuable professional development opportunity.
