Origins of Craftsperson Awards

In 1956 the Council began the practice of recognising those young men who had successfully completed apprenticeships in their chosen trade. This took the form of the presentation of a certificate, under the seal of the Council.

The University, the City of Ballarat and the Rotary Club of Ballarat have continued this tradition, and now welcome both men and women who have completed their apprenticeships as Craftsperson of the City of Ballarat.
