Federation University event to promote student wellbeing

Posted: Wednesday 18 September 2024

Federation University Australia is hosting a series of exciting events across its campuses to support the overall wellbeing of students, as part of an overall drive to provide students with a more positive experience of university life.

Taking place from Monday 23 to Wednesday 25 September across all campuses, FedWell Fest is a free event featuring a variety of activities centred around the themes of being active, wellness, and healthy eating.

Throughout the week, students can look forward to a range of activations, including free exercise classes, yoga sessions, and at the university’s Mount Helen campus in Ballarat, there will also be a cooking demonstration from popular Youtuber and media personality 'Nat's What I Reckon'.

Recognising the importance of healthy nutrition and physical activity for mental health, academic success, and overall wellbeing, Federation University is committed to addressing this important need within the student community.

Through the recent establishment of the Nourishment Nook on campus, the university has witnessed the positive impact of these initiatives on students' lives. It will be available during FedWell Fest, providing students with access to nutritious food options.

Another highlight of FedWell Fest will be the launch of a printed cookbook featuring recipes from staff and students, which will be celebrated with free food, and recipe tastings.

“At Federation University we approach the student experience holistically, giving our students access to more than just a means of completing their studies. Events like this are a great way of sustaining a vibrant community around our campuses while fulfilling the needs of our students.”

“Our students are often juggling multiple priorities including family, work, and study. Ensuring that our students have access to education on healthy food, exercise and wellbeing practices is essential for their overall wellbeing and academic success.”
