Federation University Australia graduates are more likely to get a fulltime job and earn a higher salary compared to the national average, according to a new survey of 5,300 Australian employers.

The 2018 Employer Satisfaction Survey, prepared by the Federal Government’s Quality Indicators for Learning and Teaching, ranked the technical skills, generic skills and work readiness of recent graduates.

A similar survey for graduates, the 2018 Graduate Outcomes Survey, also was released. 

“Our ranking of 91 per cent for graduate employability was the highest in the nation,” Professor Helen Bartlett, Vice-Chancellor and President, said.

“This includes leadership, management and organisational skills.

“Federation University Australia graduates have consistently recorded above the national average for overall employment and median salary,” Professor Bartlett said.

“This shows the opportunities for our graduates when they enter the workforce.”

Highlights of the reports include: 

Domestic Undergraduates:

•             FedUni (78.3 per cent) above the national average (72.9 per cent) for full-time employment

•             FedUni (89.5) above the national average (87.2) for overall employment

•             FedUni (94.6) above the national average (92.0) for labour force participation

•             FedUni median salary ($62K) above the national average ($61K)

Domestic Postgraduate (Coursework):

•             FedUni (88.1) above the national average (86.5) for full-time employment

•             FedUni (95.5) above the national average (92.8) for overall employment

•             FedUni (97.3) above the national average (96.1) for labour force participation

•             FedUni median Salary ($90K) above the national average ($83.5K)

Domestic Postgraduate (Research):

•             FedUni (87.5) above the national average (82.3) for full-time employment

•             FedUni (94.7) above the national average (91.8) for overall employment

•             FedUni median salary ($101.2K) above the national average ($90K)

“These excellent results are also very beneficial to our regional economies,” Professor Bartlett said.

“Most of our students stay and work in the regions where they studied, contributing to the local economy.

“In total, 68 per cent of bachelor level and 63 per cent of postgraduate level FedUni graduates will go on to work in our regional areas,” Professor Bartlett said.

“The University also raises real wages across its campus regions by an average of 1.8 per cent due to the highly skilled graduates entering the workforce and the staff FedUni employs.”
