A total of 113 students from Federation University Australia will participate in 13 new mobility projects across the Indo-Pacific in 2018 as part of the Federal Government’s New Colombo Plan.

“As part of the program 10 education students will complete professional experience practicums in China by engaging with Taishan No 1. High School and Anshan University,” Dr Jessie Harman, Pro Vice-Chancellor (International and Partnerships), said.

“A further 20 nursing students will participate in an allied healthcare clinical placement in Nepal, working with a small, private community hospital in Pokhara.”

The University received funding of $346,500 for the 113 students to undertake mobility experiences in 2018. The University also received funding for multiyear projects from previous years for 40 students totalling $124,000.

The FedUni projects will be conducted in Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Nepal, Republic of Korea, Timor-Leste and Vietnam. Many of the projects will focus on outdoor education, water management, public health and conservation. 

In 2018, the Australian Government will support about 13,000 students from 40 Australian universities and 41 consortia to undertake 882 New Colombo Plan mobility projects in 35 locations across the Indo-Pacific region.
