Academic Support Services Directorate

The Academic Service and Support Directorate (ASSD) supports higher education Institutes and work with academic and professional staff to coordinate the delivery of higher education academic programs and the operations of the Institutes.


The directorate consists of five service teams:

  • Academic Services – Supports the overall Institute operations. Examples include staff recruitment, administration induction, space allocation, academic workload support, consultancy, travel bookings budget, purchasing and committee support.
  • Program Support – Supports the development and delivery of higher education programs and courses. Examples include program and course approvals and amendments, managing appeals and academic misconduct claims, orientation and Open Day activities, and timetabling changes.
  • Technical Support – Supports the delivery of the practical components of the higher education academic programs through the provision of technical services. Examples include technical support for classes, laboratory management, ordering stock, equipment maintenance, budget consumables, OH&S induction, HIRACS and regulatory compliance.
  • Work Intergrated learning - Manages the administration needs that support co-op learning experiences and work integrated learning. Examples include managing the administration of student placements, placement budgets/finance/invoices, and student placement preparedness. The team also support the sourcing of placements through industry engagement activities
  • Scheduling – Manages the logistics of higher education and TAFE program delivery. Examples include timetabling, examinations, room allocations and webroom bookings. This team also services TAFE, GPS and partner providers, in addition to higher education.
