Scholarships
Federation University offers a range of Higher Degree by Research scholarship options to current and prospective Masters by research or PhD candidates.
You’ll be supported with a tax-free scholarship and a tuition fee scholarship to cover the cost of fees. You’ll also be provided with a laptop and financial support for your project (subject to conditions).
Applications are currently open for:

- Research Training Program Stipend Scholarship - opens on 01/09/2025 to domestic current and prospective students
Industry-connected HDR projects
Federation University has partnered with an extended range of industry groups to create additional 'one off' scholarships to support suitably qualified applicants working on individual industry-linked projects.
You’ll be supported with a tax-free scholarship and a tuition fee scholarship to cover the cost of fees. You’ll also be provided with a laptop and financial support for your project (subject to conditions).

Research Training Program (RTP) Stipend Scholarship
Federation University Australia offers Research Training Program (RTP) Stipend Scholarships annually to eligible applicants - both current and prospective Higher Degree by Research candidates, who are either:
- Australian citizens
- Permanent Humanitarian Visa holders
- Australian permanent residents
- New Zealand citizens
Applications for 2025 RTP stipend scholarships will be open from the 1st of September 2025 (01/09/2025) until the 31st of October 2025 (31/10/2025).
Note: Federation University is currently unable to offer Research Training Program stipend scholarships to international applicants, however, there are other stipend scholarship opportunities available to international applicants. Selected industry related scholarships are available to international applicants.
Scholarship amount: $40,000 per annum tax-free, paid as a fortnightly stipend of $1,538.46.
Fees: Up to $33,300 per annum covered by a Research Training Program Fee-Offset Scholarship.
