FedAwards 2024 - Criteria
The judges are looking for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student who has demonstrated the following qualities:
- Shown excellent effort in their University undergraduate studies.
- Made a positive impact on the Federation University student community.
The judges are looking for a student who has demonstrated the following qualities:
- Enriched the cultural student life of the university or the wider community through their artistic endeavours.
- Made an impact and inspired others through their creative work.
- Advocated for the importance of the arts and the longevity of their involvement has left a vibrant mark within the community.
Examples include:
- Participating in an arts initiative that brought together various community members for a shared creative experience.
- Participating in an exhibition or performance that addressed a specific cultural or social issue.
- Actively promoting the value of the arts through advocacy efforts, raising awareness, and fostering a supportive environment for artistic expression.
The judges are looking for an international student who has demonstrated the following qualities:
- Made a significant contribution to University life for their peers.
- Dedicated significant time and effort to improving the international student experience, engaging with or advocating for other international students such as:
- being a voice for issues concerning international students in either a formal representative role or informal/digital advocacy
- contributing to cross cultural awareness on campus or in the community
- acting as a peer-support or mentor to other international students.
This award is for a currently enrolled student who the Awards Committee considers to be the most outstanding sportsperson attending Federation University for that calendar year. The winner must have represented in their chosen sport at an elite level that includes, state, national or international level competition. Results in external high-performance competition will be considered.
The judges are looking for a student who has demonstrated outstanding leadership across the university through some or all of the following:
- Outstanding leadership in a student organisation, project, or initiative, significantly contributing to the university community's improvement and positively influencing others.
- Demonstrated collaboration by promoting cooperation between various student groups and the wider university.
- Engaged actively in various campus activities and events.
- Helped build a cohesive university community and played a role in enriching the campus experience for their peers.
- Coached or mentored student leaders to drive change or initiatives to positively impact student life.
The judges are looking for a student-run group that has been consistently well-run, active and inclusive over an extended period of time. This group possesses strong leadership in their committee which positively impacts their members/university student life experience.
Examples of their sustained excellence may include:
- Running events that engage students in positive activities which promote the relationship between themselves and the University community.
- Developing an exceptional group culture with consistently effective succession-planning.
- Being well received and are increasing their membership base and implementing fun and engaging events/activities.
The judges are looking for the most outstanding student-run activity or event delivered cohesively as a team that provided students with a great opportunity to come together and have fun.
Examples may include:
- On campus events/activities generating social interaction and helping to build and strengthen friendships.
- Off campus or virtual events/activities bringing students together with a focus on building relationships and having fun.
