WHITE, Fred

Metallurgist - Ballarat College of Advanced Education

Originally from Innisfail, Fred White was a student at the Ballarat College of Advanced Education during the 1980s.

In 1988 Fred White began his mining career with Mount Isa mines shovelling and cleaning up as a day ganger in the lead smelter. Since that time he has worked in the Blast Furnace and was an instructor for the commissioning of the new Lead Isasmelt. Leaving Mt Isa in 1991 he returned six years later as shift supervisor at the at the Lead Smelter Blast Furnace, moving to the superintendent's role one year later. Early in 2003 Fred White took on the position of Lead Smelter Manager.
