Soil CRC 2020 Major Investment Round (Call 20-1)

The Soil CRC have announced the Major Investment Round for 2020 proposals (Call 20-1). Priorities are highly targeted towards areas that allow the CRC and Core Participants, including Federation University, to continue to meet the milestones and objectives of the Soil CRC, while also positioning the CRC to help farmers meet the challenges associated with the changing climatic conditions towards a generally drier and warmer climate.

In response to feedback from earlier rounds, the CRC have given a little over three months lead up time to submit proposals. This will allow more time for project development, recognising the time needed to get genuine collaboration and end-user engagement during a period when many partners are occupied with harvest and/or summer holidays.

Interested applicants are strongly encouraged to engage with the relevant Program Leaders early to explore opportunities for leading or being involved in a collaborative proposal to address a priority in which you or your team may be interested.

  • Identify Project Priority(ies) you are interested in applying for, read the guidelines and register for Soil CRC website and Soil Central.
  • Discuss with school, colleagues and potential collaborators to see who might be interested in putting in a submission with you
  • Contact the relevant Program Leader early to discuss idea.

29 Apr 2020 Board decision made on proposals
5 May 2020 Project Leaders informed of decisions
22 May 2020 Successful Project Leaders submit amended proposals (if changes requested by Board)
May – July 2020 Approved individual project documentation issued and signed
01 Aug 2020 Earliest projects can commence

Other important information

  • Before applying, you must register for the Soil Central portal at https://soilcentral.soilcrc.com.au/
    • Once you have registered and started your proposal, please add research.funding@federation.edu.au and FEDUNI (Federation University) to your proposal to ensure you can gain institutional approval before submission prior to 3 Feb deadline.
  • Proposals must address one or more of the Project Priorities listed in the Guidelines
  • The Guidelines and other information is available via the member area of the Soil CRC website
  • Please ensure you contact the relevant Program leader well in advance (this year) to discuss your project and team. Please refer to the Guidelines for Program Leader contact details.
