New healthcare programs to be offered at Wimmera Campus

Posted: Monday 5 December 2016

Federation University Australia is pleased to announce it will offer the Certificate Three in Individual Support and the Diploma of Nursing at the Wimmera Campus next year.

The new programs are in response to the skills shortage in the sector as demand across the Grampians region for skilled health care practitioners is predicted to reach 5000 positions by 2020.

“Strong interest has been shown from local employers for these new programs,” Education Manager Tara Haneveld said.

“The programs will enable the region to retain skilled health care workers and provide improved healthcare in the community.

“The new courses being offered from FedUni TAFE at Horsham are an opportunity for local students to start their health career with the chance to progress toward a higher qualification, with these courses being a direct pathway into Higher Education,” Ms Haneveld said.

“The development of the new curriculum has been in partnership with local industry members in response to their specific regional needs.”

An information night about the new programs will be held at the Horsham Campus at 6.30 pm on 11 January.

More information about the Certificate Three in Individual Support and the Diploma of Nursing will be available. The Certificate will commence in February and the Diploma will commence in March.
