FedUni academic to launch new book at Ararat

Posted: Thursday 17 November 2016

Professor Ian D. Clark from Federation University Australia will launch his new book, 'We Are All of One Blood': A History of the Djabwurrung Aboriginal People of Western Victoria, 1836-1901, at Ararat Regional Art Gallery from 1.00 pm, Friday, 18 November.

The three-volume reconstructs the history of the Djabwurrung Aboriginal People of the Ararat, Stawell, and Hamilton districts from 1836 - when they first encountered European intruders on their lands - to the Federation of Australia in 1901.

The work also has been the winner of the Victorian Community History Award 2016 Category: Local History Project Award.

Dr Clark's curiosity about the Djabwurrung people is linked to his own upbringing in Ararat where his ancestors have lived since the 1850s.

“This new publication is the culmination of 34 years of research, now published in three large integrated volumes,” Dr Clark said.

“I hope future researchers and general readers will find this work valuable in the years to come.”
