Biography
Margaret currently holds the position of Economist at the Australian Council of Trade Unions. Her role includes preparing the ACTU’s submission to the Fair Work Commission’s Annual Wage Review concerning the minimum wage. Previously she was lecturer in economics at Deakin University and has taught and researched at other universities in Australia and the UK. She has worked in economic policy areas in the Australian public service mainly at the ACCC. Her research interests are predominantly in areas of macroeconomics, market failure and economic policy, with an empirical focus. These include labour economics, privatisation, technology, industry and trade policy, development and applied econometrics. She has presented widely in the media.

Teaching areas
Margaret has extensive teaching experience across most areas of economics at all tertiary levels, and for community and union organisers.
