Biography

Kamal is a lecturer in Food and Nutritional Sciences. His teaching areas include food technology, food process engineering, and product & process development.

Upon completion of his BSc in Food Science & Technology, Kamal started his career in the food industry in technical leadership roles. He then continued his studies and received his MSc in Food Process Engineering, following which he entered the academia teaching Food Technology and Engineering subjects. He returned back again to his studies and did his PhD in Chemical Engineering. Before joining Federation University he was recruited back by the food industry in Australia where he worked extensively across the region, this time in research and development and technical training roles.

His research interests include microstructure and stability of food products, food rheology, and functionality of materials. He is also interested in collaborating with the food industry in problem solving and research initiatives.
