Research interests

Eric has research interests that focus on the interplay between technology and the law in areas including (not limited to); identity theft, cybercrime, and blockchain. His research interests also extend to teaching law to non-law students;  research that brings together his passion for teaching with research. Eric’s publication outcomes include self-authored and jointly authored journal publications and various peer-reviewed outcomes (see links below).

Biography

Having started as a sessional in the tertiary education sector in 1999, Eric was appointed full-time as a lecturer in law at Central Queensland University and then at the James Cook University Law School. Eric has been with Federation University Australia as a lecturer in law (formerly University of Ballarat) since 2009. Eric is an enthusiastic student-centred educator, who has been recognised at a school (Most Outstanding Teacher, 2011) and university level (Vice-Chancellor's Citation, 2010). In addition, he is an active university contributor, having engaged in various internal roles including (but not limited to); the Chair of University Appeals, Academic Integrity Officer, School Learning and Teaching Coordinator, and Discipline Leader. Eric is also an active community contributor, with a former ministerial appointment as an Independent Prison Visitor alongside engagements with various not-for-profit community organisations. Eric is an enthusiastic student focussed educator who seeks to make contributions to the University and the broader community through his teaching, research, and engagement.
