A brief description of the project:

Tropical cyclones can have strong social and economic influences, particularly on the coastal communities around the globe. Predicting tropical cyclone activity well in advance can have important consequences for communities. However, the predictability of tropical cyclones at seasonal time scale seems to have changed over the past few decades, with conventional predictors of the activity seem to have reduced skill. The main aim of the project is to investigate reasons for the change, with emphasis on the role of global warming.
