Federation University Australia’s Professor Caroline Finch has been appointed the University’s inaugural Executive Dean of Graduate Studies.
“Professor Finch has a stellar research track record, and has received National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) funding continuously for an extended period,” Professor Leigh Sullivan, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), said.
“She is ideally qualified to be the University’s inaugural Executive Dean of Graduate Studies.
“Professor Finch has held the position of Robert HT Smith Emeritus Professor at FedUni since 2013 where she also holds the position of Director at the Australian Collaboration for Research into Injury in Sport and its Prevention (ACRISP) research centre.”
This follows a long history of highly successful senior research management and leadership experience across several universities including Monash University, University of New South Wales as well as FedUni.
Professor Finch has held an NHMRC Principal Research fellowship continually since 2004, and has had continual NHMRC project grant funding since 2001. Professor Finch has also been funded by the Australian Research Council (ARC) continually since 2005.
She also has supervised more than 22 PhD/Masters students to successful completion including seven NHMRC/ARC PhD Scholars, four APA PhD awardees and six university scholarship holders.
The calibre of the research undertaken by her HDR students is also demonstrated by the fact that several have been awarded NHMRC Public Health Early Career Fellowships within two years of their PhD completions.
Professor Finch has authored or co-authored more than 700 publications, many with her PhD students.
