Two new scholarships announced by sports injury research centre
Posted: Tuesday 1 November 2016
The University's Australian Collaboration for Research into Injury in Sport and its Prevention (ACRISP), part of the International Olympic Committee medical research network, is pleased to announce two new industry-partnered PhD scholarships are open for applications.
The first scholarship is aimed at research into safety and medical emergency management in community sport. The successful PhD scholar will begin with an investigation of the Victorian State Government’s Defibrillators for Sporting Clubs and Facilities Program.
The second scholarship will focus on cricket injuries, using insurance claim data for injury surveillance in community cricket. The scholar will work with Cricket Australia and insurance agent JLT Sport to identify better methods for injury reporting and injury prevention opportunities.
“These two scholarships will each have a three-year duration and consist of a stipend of more than $26,000, plus an industry top-up,” Professor Caroline Finch, Director of ACRISP, said.
“Both scholarships offer a fantastic opportunity for higher degree students to pursue their passion into sport injury research. These two fields of research are of vital importance to sports management in Australia today.”
