Posted: Monday 31 October 2016
Federation University Australia and the Central Highlands and Inner Gippsland Children and Youth Area Partnership Research Collaborations have announced eight fully funded PhD scholarships in their regions to commence next February.
The scholarships will be funded by Child and Family Services Ballarat Inc (CAFS), Berry Street, Department of Education and Training, Department of Health and Human Services, Central Highlands Family Services Alliance, Central Highlands Family Violence Committee, Anglicare and Federation University Australia.
“The Partnerships are a new way of working to improve outcomes for children and young people, particularly those who are vulnerable to violence and exclusion,” Dr Christina Sadowski, Research Co-ordinator, said.
“The Post-Graduate Research Initiative has been developed as a way to advance and apply research knowledge. Students will be involved in designing, implementing and evaluating evidence-informed interventions.”
The Central Highlands Children and Youth Area Partnership (CHCYAP) and Inner Gippsland Children and Youth Area Partnership (IGCYAP) Post-Graduate Research Initiatives will provide the opportunity for practitioners to develop advanced research skills and contribute to collective knowledge about improving outcomes in children and youth priority areas.
These areas include family violence, supporting parenting and increased engagement and attendance in kindergarten and schools, trauma informed practice, and improving outcomes for young people in and out of home care.
Scholarship applications are open from 17 October to 11 November.
