Biography

Zainab R. Zaidi is associated with Institute of Innovation, Science and Sustainability (IISS) of Federation University as Lecturer in Engineering. Previously, she worked as Research Fellow in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Melbourne in 2023-24. and worked as a Researcher in Networked Systems group in NICTA (now Data61), Sydney, Australia, from 2006 till 2011. She was a visiting Senior Research Fellow in King's College London, UK, in 2014 and also worked in NED University, Karachi, Pakistan in 2005 and 2012 as ad hoc faculty. She also worked as a post doctoral fellow in George Mason University, Virginia, USA, in 2004.

Her research interests include the study and modeling of the impact of misinformation on public opinion expressed over social media, detection of coordinated campaigns, and design of simulation platforms to mimic social networks. Her research in Telecommunications are includes use of Machine Learning tools to improve wireless networking technologies, 5G energy efficient architectures, different network layer issues in wireless networks, such as, robust routing, efficiency of link metric, quality-of-service, etc., and their application in providing cost-effective connectivity besides mobility tracking and its applications in mobile wireless networks. She did PhD and MS in Electrical Engineering (EE) from George Mason University, Virginia, USA, in 2004 and 1999 respectively and BS in EE from NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi, Pakistan, in 1997.
