Fake documents - serious consequences
Providing fake or edited documents to support Special Consideration is taken extremely seriously by the university. If you are found to have done this, you may be excluded for 10 years.
We know that students come under a lot of stress in their university and personal lives, particularly around the end of Semester, and Special Consideration is a good way to try to reduce some of this. However, in times of stress we have seen students provide falsified or fake medical certificates to support their applications, and this has severe consequences.
The university considers this serious fraudulent behaviour and treats it very seriously with punishments including 10-year exclusions from the Course, leaving it very unlikely that students are able to return to study in the future. Please do not falsify, change, or purchase fake medical certificates - if academic staff have suspicions about your documentation, they will contact the medical clinic to verify it and this will be treated as serious academic misconduct.
Whilst Student Advocacy happily supports all students in misconduct cases, we are very limited in what we can do to help students who have falsified documents. The university has a lot of support available to help you proactively in times of stress before it gets too much. In particular, the Counselling team can provide legitimate supporting documentation for your application. If you have health concerns that require Special Consideration, you can use HotDoc to browse for clinics with early availability of appointments even if they're not your regular GP. You can even apply for Special Consideration, then provide documents up to 5 working days later if you can't get a same-day appointment.
