Ordering library resources

Academic staff can order library books, journals, databases, and other materials to support the University's teaching, learning and research activities.

We have an electronic-preferred acquisition model and will order digital resources rather than print where available. This allows us to provide 24/7 access on and off campus to multiple simultaneous users and integrate resources into online course platforms.

When an item is not available electronically or if there is a specific reason for the print copy, we will purchase the item in print.

Textbooks and recommended readings

You can advise unit textbook requirements through your Institute's Academic Services and Support Directorate team. This process ensures that both the Library and School Locker are advised that the textbook has been set and can plan accordingly.

The Library provides textbooks as a backup for students which means we aren’t able to provide textbooks to every student when they need it. Due to licensing restrictions, we often can't provide access to an electronic version of all prescribed texts.

Find out about new publications

The Library Acquisitions team can supply information about new titles in most subject areas. Upon request, we can also create tailored subject bibliographies that can be especially useful when preparing new units or revising reading lists.

Contact Library Acquisitions and let us know what topics you might be interested in.

Purchasing personal copies

We only purchase material to add to the Library collections. If you do need to order personal copies of items, we can provide advice on where you might be able to purchase them.
