Historical Collection

Federation University has an extensive collection of historical material dating from the opening of the Ballarat School of Mines in 1870. Over 15,000 items in the collection are currently catalogued and a selection of these can be accessed digitally via the Library catalogue.

Accessing the collection

The historical collections are housed on site at Mt Helen Campus Library and in an offsite store. Items from the Historical Collection cannot be borrowed from the Library. Items must be used within the Blainey Reading Room.

Visitors are welcome to access the collection in the Geoffrey Blainey Research Centre (GBRC) during opening hours or by appointment.
