If you are interested in applying for a funding opportunity that has a limit on applications per organisation or strict eligibility requirements, please submit your Funding Expression of Interest (FEOI) form by the advertised deadline to avoid disappointment.  If no FEOI deadline is advertised, our usual timeline applies (15 business days before the external deadline).

Telematics Trust 2025 Grant Round

Telematics Trust calls for applications that demonstrate innovative use of technology through education and training

The vision of Telematics Trust is for technology to transform lives through education and training for the cultural, social and economic benefit of Victorians.

The Telematics Trust is committed to funding initiatives that support this vision by demonstrating innovative use of technology for education and training purposes.

The Trust funds initiatives that use technology to reach diverse and disadvantaged groups and address important practical problems and social issues in our community and environment. These initiatives demonstrate the innovative use of technology through education and learning, and they aim to measurably improve the well-being of the community and environment.

Application Process

In 2025, the Telematics Trust grant round is a two-stage process (EOI and Full Application).

Application limits apply at the EOI stage – Federation University is eligible to submit only one application from each of the Centres or Institutes.

• In the case of more than 1 application from the same Centre or Institute, the Centre Director/Head of Institute will need to undertake an internal process for selection (Research Funding Team will coordinate with the Directors and Heads).

Those selected to progress in the internal selection stage will be provided with a unique application link.

• EOI applications: open Monday 7th April 2025 and close 5pm Thursday 8^th May 2025. See Internal Deadlines below.
• Full applications: open Monday 23rd June 2025 and close at 5pm Thursday 24th July 2025.
• Notification of outcome: End of September 2025.
• Grants awarded: October 2025.

Early FEOIs are welcome. Please read the Guidelines (pdf 246KB), to ensure eligibility.

We strongly encourage interested applicants to discuss funding opportunities with their Centre Director/Head of Institute as soon as possible and early in the process.

Funding Support

The Telematics Trust supports organisations and individuals with one-off grants of up to $50,000, to invest in an innovative project or initiative in line with its vision and mission.

Assessment criteria

• The quality of the applicant and their ability to deliver the project
• The excellence of the proposed project and the likelihood that it will lead to:
  - the promotion of public education and training in Victoria;
  - an important innovation or the solution to an important practical problem;
  - economic or social benefit to Victoria.

*STRICT - Eligibility requirements for this scheme mean that late FEOIs and draft Telematics EOI application form cannot be accepted.

NOTE: Telematics Trust will not accept applications for the same project more than once. An applicant that has multiple departments or faculties (i.e. Universities) may apply with more than one application per grant round; however, each application must be from a different department or faculty.
