Course Readings has two ways your students can access the reading in Moodle:

1. Through the Course Readings tool you add as an activity which shows all the readings; and
2. through links you place throughout the course from the editing toolbar to specific readings. Wherever you see the editing toolbar, look for the Course Readings icon, and place a link to a reading in a book or a topic. 

This enables your students to go straight to the reading at the point of need within the teaching content, and also have the full list from the Course Readings tool available in one place.
