Student ID cards
You'll need a student ID card to access University facilities (and sit your exams). Find out how to get one.

Get your first card
Your first student ID card is free. All you need to do is upload your photo and an accepted form of identity to the CaptureMe Portal.
New international students
If you are an international student starting at Federation, you will collect your student ID card on campus during Orientation at your study location.
Before you can collect your card, you must complete the following steps:
1. Activate your student account
You need to activate your account before arriving on campus.
2. Complete the International Student Essentials Program
This online program is a student visa requirement. You must complete the program in Moodle before your student ID card can be issued.

Student ID cards are available for collection the next business day.

- Melbourne City Campus: Reception
If you're studying online, your card will be posted out (free for standard post or $7 for express). If you're studying through a partner provider, you should collect your card from your campus.
Why you need a student ID card
You’ll need your student ID card to:
- sit exams
- borrow from the Library
- use University photocopiers/printers (once loaded with credit)
- access computer labs after hours.
How to get a replacement card
If you're on campus, pop in to a location above to have your new card printed on the spot. If you'd like your new card posted, fill out a Student ID Card Replacement form (PDF 299 KB) and submit it via our online enquiry portal.
If you get a replacement and then find your old card, please destroy it.
