Research interests

Samia’s research interests lie in health/clinical psychology, behavioural medicine, and interventional psychology. Some of her past projects have explored primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease, psychophysiological responses to adjuvant therapies in chronic disease, adjustment to illness, and self-care behaviours. Samia holds honorary positions at Austin Health and Melbourne University and collaborates with health professionals and scientists. She is interested in disease prevention and management through optimised self-care and adjuvant therapy.  Samia offers postgraduate supervision within the broad field of health/clinical psychology, which could include research that explores risk factors; mental health; cognitive decline; ageing; chronic illness; primary and secondary prevention; self-care; resilience; interventional studies (including the use of music and pets), and; psychometric studies.
