Semester dates

Bachelor of Nursing / Bachelor of Midwifery first years follow the standard Federation academic calendar, but second and third years start earlier. This makes it easier to break each semester into dedicated teaching, assessment and placement blocks. Placements are scheduled after the six-week coursework block and assessments are finished.
 
2026 semester dates for Bachelor of Nursing / Bachelor of Midwifery first years:
 
Semester 1 starts 2 March
Semester 2 starts 20 July
 
2026 semester dates for Bachelor of Nursing / Bachelor of Midwifery second and third years:
 
Semester 1 starts 27 January
Semester 2 starts 22 June

Order your textbooks
Ordering items through School Locker is quick and easy. Select ‘Subjects’, choose your semester, search by unit code, add items to your cart and complete the checkout process.
Get your uniform
It's compulsory to wear the official Federation BN/BMid uniform when you're on placement or attending laboratory sessions. You'll find everything you need at Fedstore.
Submit your placement documents
Before your placement can be confirmed, you’ll need to upload a series of mandatory documents to InPlace. Some of these can take 6–12 weeks to organise, so best start early.

Attendance

For Bachelor of Nursing / Bachelor of Midwifery there’s a 100% attendance requirement for clinical units and an 80% attendance requirement for non-clinical units. For Graduate Diploma of Midwifery there’s a 100% attendance requirement for all study blocks.

Accreditation

The Bachelor of Nursing / Bachelor of Midwifery qualifies you as a nurse and midwife for national practice. The course has an ANMAC accreditation, which means you can apply for midwifery registration with AHPRA after you graduate.
