The new Director of Federation TAFE’s Wimmera Campus says that addressing skills shortages in the region is a top priority. 

With over 20 years of experience in the sector, Ms Christine Brown is looking forward to working closely with local industries to deliver the training they need to succeed. 

She will work collaboratively with Industry Advisory Groups, employers, the wider Wimmera community, along with Federation University and TAFE staff, to develop training opportunities and pathways that lead to real employment outcomes. 

Ms Brown is determined to ensure that people wanting TAFE qualifications are not disadvantaged by the tyranny of distance. 

She sees the potential to maximise online working environments, tried and tested through the COVID-19 pandemic, to cultivate innovative blended delivery programs, as well as expanding offerings through micro-credentials and industry-specific programs. 

Her role is a new one for the Wimmera Campus, ensuring that Ms Brown is an integral part of the Federation TAFE senior leadership team. 

Her previous experience includes a range of educational leadership roles across the Victorian TAFE sector, most recently as the Director for the Automotive Centre of Excellence at Bendigo Kangan Institute.
