The Institute of Education, Arts and Community is intensely engaged in discipline-specific, cross-disciplinary, and practice-led and partnership-based research.

Bringing a focus on practice enriched by rigorous theoretical frameworks to different settings, researchers in the Institute partner with industry to address real-world problems around equity, diversity, social justice and creativity in schools, community and human service organisations, the criminal justice system and the arts sector.

Specialist disciplines in which the Institute provides PhD supervision are in teacher education, history, Indigenous studies, humanities, social sciences, social work, and the visual and performing arts. The Institute’s academic and postgraduate research is world standard in excellence in history, teacher education, and the social sciences.
