How to enrol in university units
If you’re starting or continuing a higher ed course, you must enrol in your units for the upcoming academic year before you can create your timetable or attend classes.
When to enrol
If you're already studying with us, you can enrol in your units for 2026 now. If you're starting your course in 2026, you'll be able to enrol after you accept your offer. You’ll need to enrol before you can manage your timetable.
Before you enrol
You need to do a couple of quick tasks before you choose your units. All students must complete a checklist before they can enrol (yes, even if you did one last year) and new domestic students must also submit their eCAF/s.
Before you can enrol, you’ll need to activate your account. There are a few steps involved, so make sure you complete them first.
- Log into my Student Centre with your student ID and password.
- If you're using a desktop computer, select Tasks & Holds. If you're using a phone, select To Do List.
- Enter your preferred name, personal email, address, USI, education history and emergency contact details.

If you need to make any changes to your name or gender, complete the Amend your personal details form (PDF 137kb) and submit it via our enquiry portal.
If you’re a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) student, you must complete an electronic Commonwealth Assistance Form (eCAF) to accept your Government-subsidised place and apply for a HECS-HELP loan. You’ll also need to submit one to apply for an SA-HELP or FEE-HELP loan.
Which eCAFs to submit
Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) and HECS-HELP loan eCAF
This eCAF is compulsory for all commencing CSP students. Not sure if you have a CSP? Find this info in your Federation offer letter.
SA-HELP loan eCAF
If you’re eligible, you can use an SA-HELP loan to defer your Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF). To apply, request an SA-HELP eCAF via my Student Centre. (Need guidance? See our SA-HELP page.) But if you don’t submit this eCAF by the semester census date you’ll have to pay for your SSAF upfront.
FEE-HELP loan eCAF
If you’re a domestic full fee–paying student and you’re eligible, you can use a FEE-HELP loan to defer your course tuition fees. To apply, request a FEE-HELP eCAF via my Student Centre. (Need guidance? See our FEE-HELP page.) But if you don’t submit this eCAF by the semester census date you’ll have to pay your tuition fees upfront.
How to submit your eCAFs
- Find your passkey/s. If you’ve accepted an offer for a Commonwealth Supported Place, you should have received an email from ecafsystem@education.gov.au. (Can’t find it? Look in your junk folder.) It contains a passkey and link to access and submit your CSP eCAF via the Government portal. If you request SA-HELP or FEE-HELP eCAFs, you’ll receive separate emails for these.
- Log into the eCAF portal. Use the passkey and your date of birth to log into the eCAF portal.
- Complete your eCAF. When you’re filling out your eCAFs, your personal details must match those on our system (which you can view in my Student Centre under 'Personal Information'.) You’ll also need your Unique Student Identifier (USI) and your tax file number (if applying for a HELP loan). If you don’t have a tax file number (TFN), complete your eCAF anyway but apply for a TFN straightaway. You must tell us your TFN before census date or you won’t get a HELP loan (and it can take up to 28 days for your TFN to arrive).
Don’t leave your eCAFs too late – passkeys expire 12 weeks after they’re issued.
How to enrol
Enrolling doesn't take long and you can do it all online. One tip – it's easier if you use a desktop computer. Not sure what to enrol in? Find your course structure.
- Log into my Student Centre with your student ID and password.
- Select the Higher Ed Enrolment tile.
- Select Search available units from the side menu.
- Follow the instructions to add units to your enrolment shopping cart.
- Continue adding units until your shopping cart matches your course structure or study plan.
- Select Enrolment shopping cart from the side menu.
- Select Enrol.
If an error occurs, or any unit appears with a red cross:
- Tick the box on the left of each unit.
- Select Validate.
- Fix any errors identified.
For example, if a unit has a co-requisite, you’ll need to add both to your enrolment shopping cart. If you’re trying to enrol in Semester 2 units, check that you’ve already enrolled in any Semester 1 pre-requisites.
Enrol in both semesters
Enrolling for the entire academic year means you won’t have to worry about it later and helps ensure you're on track to meet your course requirements. If your plans change, you can still swap units once results are released at the end of the semester.
You can change your enrolment if you make a mistake (or you're asked to).
Drop units
You can drop units up until census date. To do this:
- Log into my Student Centre with your student ID and password.
- Select the Higher Ed Enrolment tile.
- Select Drop units from the side menu.
- Tick the box on the left of each unit you want to drop.
- Select Next on the blue banner at the top of the page.
- Select Drop units.
Make sure each dropped unit has a green tick. If a unit has a red cross, check if it’s a pre-requisite or co-requisite. If you want to drop a pre-requisite you must first drop the unit that comes after it. If you want to drop a co-requisite, you must drop its partner as well.
Add or swap units
For most courses, you can add or swap units until the Friday of Week 2 in the relevant semester. To do this, drop the unit you don’t want (see above) then add the new unit to your enrolment shopping cart. Between Friday of Week 2 and census date you’ll need written permission from your course coordinator if you want to swap units. Upload a copy of the course coordinator’s permission to the enquiry and application portal.
- Log into my Student Centre with your student ID and password.
- Select the Higher Ed Enrolment tile.
- Select View my enrolled units from the side menu.
- Select the relevant semester.
- Make sure Show enrolled units is ticked and untick Dropped units if applicable.
If a unit you should be enrolled in doesn't appear, follow the instructions above to add it to your enrolment shopping cart.
You'll access your timetable for enrolled units on mySchedule. Set your class preferences for Semester 1 between 15 December 2025 to 16 January 2026, and then access and edit your timetable after it's released on 2 February.
If you're a second, third or fourth year in the Bachelor of Nursing or Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Midwifery, or enrolled in a different semester, you'll have different dates.
