The Client Services Team is responsible for the delivery of Lending and Enquiry Services to all Federation students, staff and researchers.
This team also is responsible for the provision of programs and resources to support and develop lifelong learning skills through independent research, information skills and knowledge to our students through their Liaison Services. A strong focus for this team is in supporting academic and research staff through the delivery of mobile liaison services to each of our Schools.

The Collections and Access team is responsible for the selection, acquisition, processing, cataloguing and classification of Library materials, both in print and electronic format, the provision of Document Delivery Services, electronic access services and eResources.

Ballarat
Geoffrey Blainey Research Centre (GBRC) Special Collections
The Geoffrey Blainey Research Centre is named after the foundation Chancellor of the University of Ballarat (now Federation University Australia) in recognition of his long and distinguished career in academic circles, and his generous donation of books. It is located on the top floor of the E.J. Barker Library (Mt Helen Campus).
The GBRC includes the Geoffrey Blainey Mining Collection, the Federation University Australia Special Collection and the Federation University Australia Art and Historical Collections.
Art Collection
Federation University seeks to develop and maintain a permanent collection of high quality works of visual art for the cultural enrichment of its student body, staff and wider community. The art collection consists largely of works by Australian artists, dating from 1909. The collection also includes various contemporary prints, ceramics, graphics, paintings and sculptures chiefly by graduates, postgraduates and staff of the University.

Historical Collection
Federation University has an extensive collection of historical material dating from the opening of the Ballarat School of Mines in 1870. Over 15,000 items in the collection are currently catalogued. A selection of these can be accessed digitally via the Library catalogue.

GBRC location and opening hours
The collections are housed on site at Mt Helen Campus Library and in an offsite store.
It is advisable to contact the curator before planning your visit to ensure items will be available during your visit.

Gippsland
Gippsland and Regional Studies Collection (GRSC)
The Gippsland and Regional Studies Collection facilitates research into, and interpretation of, not only the Gippsland region, but also of rural and regional Australia. Present collection strengths include the history, literature, Aboriginal cultures, education, land use, environment and natural resources, and social structure of Gippsland. Material in the Collection is of particular relevance to research auspiced by the Centre for Gippsland Studies (CGS), a research centre within Federation University Australia's School of Arts.The GRSC is managed by the Library, and materials are only available for use within the reading room.
The Collection’s holdings can be found on QuickSearch, Trove and the GippsDoc indexes. Digitised images can be accessed through Trove and Federation ResearchOnline. However, most archival materials are not available digitally.
