Referencing templates and real examples for every approved style at Federation University

Referencing is a formal system used to identify and acknowledge the words or ideas of other people in your work.

Each referencing style has different formatting rules. Some use numbers and footnotes, others use author names, page numbers and dates. FedCite has guides with templates and examples for all the approved styles at Federation University.

Choose your style

APA 7
APA 7 style is an in-text citation style using the author's last name and date.
Chicago Note 18
Chicago Note 18 is a footnotes style (also known as 'Chicago A') using numbered footnotes in the text and an alphabetical bibliography.
MLA
MLA is an in-text citation style using the author's last name and the page number.
IEEE
IEEE is a numbered referencing style using square bracketed numbers that correspond with a reference list at the end of the paper.
Not sure which style to use? Check your unit description or ask your lecturer to confirm the style to use for your assignment.
