Co-op at Federation TAFE
Federation TAFE is also making significant progress in applying its Co-op framework to TAFE courses that do not already offer industry placement.
TAFE is very much focused on identifying priority qualifications using the Victorian Government’s Skills Demand Profiles, as a means to prioritise Co-op implementation. The work towards mapping qualifications against Federation TAFE's Co-op Work Ready standards has been finalised across identified priority qualifications. The following Federation TAFE courses now have project plans in place to reach Bronze Co-op standard for delivery from 2025, with work underway to implement these plans:
- Advanced Diploma of Building Design (Architectural)
- Certificate IV in Cyber Security
- Diploma of Business
- Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care
- Certificate III in Individual Support
- Diploma of Community Services
- Certificate IV in Building and Construction
- Advanced Diploma of Building Surveying
- Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping
- Certificate IV in Engineering Drafting
- Diploma of Engineering – Technical
- Certificate IV in Training and assessments
Work continues on mapping the remainder of TAFE qualifications to Bronze by the end of 2024, and Silver and Gold standards for delivery in later years. You can learn more about the Federation TAFE Co-op Standards here,
Partnering for Industry placements
There is also significant work underway in the Engagement team, who have been working hard to secure more industry placements during the soft launch of Co-op in 2024 with organisations like EY, McCain, McMillans Financial Planning, East Gippsland Water, VicRoads, Solar Vic, among others, who have signed up to take students on placement.
Up to 300 students have expressed an interest in a co-op placement with 26 applying for a placement to date who are being supported throughout the application and interview process. Follow the Federation Co-op SharePoint page where you can find links to news on new Co-op partnerships.
