Treasures from the FedUni Historical Collection on display
Posted: Friday 5 October 2018Victoria celebrates History Week from 7 to 14 October 2018 and FedUni Mt Helen Campus is a venue. Treasures from the FedUni Historical Collections will be on display at the Geoffrey Blainey Research Centre, each weekday morning during History Week (and at other times by appointment).
You are invited to view some of our special treasures, as selected by the Curator and volunteers in the Geoffrey Blainey Research Centre (top floor of the Mt Helen Library). Or challenge us to find something in our collection that's of interest to you! Feel free to email challenges before you arrive to c.gervasoni@federation.edu.au. This will give us time to locate items and have them ready for you to see.
Yes, the book covered in human skin will be on display!
Around 15% of our historical collection is accessible via the online catalogue, the rest of the collection documentation can be searched by request. See https://victoriancollections.net.au/organisations/federation-university-historical-collection#collection-records
The Federation University Australia Historical Collection was listed as a Ballarat Treasure in 2007 (as was the Federation University Australia Art Collection).
If you cannot attend during History Week, remember the Geoffrey Blainey Research Centre has regular opening hours throughout the year. Further details and access to online material is available via federation.edu.au/curator
