Impact of Workplace Health and Safety education on professional practice in Australia

Dear Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Professional,

We would like to invite you to participate in a study on the Impact of Workplace Health and Safety education on professional practice in Australia.(ethics reference number 2023-163).

This project seeks to investigate the impact WHS education has on the capabilities of WHS professionals to perform their role.

We are seeking three groups of participants as part of this research project:

  1. WHS professionals who are currently working in a WHS role and have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the field and have yet to undertake any formal education (e.g. course, degree, certificate) in WHS, or
  2. WHS professionals who were formally engaged in a WHS role, have completed a Tafe (or equivalent level) course in WHS and are continuing to work in a WHS role, or
  3. WHS professionals who were formally engaged in a WHS role. have completed a WHS tertiary degree (Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma, Bachelor or Masters) and continued to work in a WHS role

Participants will undertake an interview with the Chief Investigator, which is estimated to take approximately 60min and will be undertaken either face to face (optional for Victorian participants only) or via Teams video conferencing platform.  These interviews will be recorded and transcribed for the research project with your detailed de-identified and kept confidential.
